bartman anyone know how to invoke a reverse grep pattern for git-rev-list02:18
bartman wants a grep -v equiv02:18
bartman someone decided that it would be a great idea to run a commit hook (in svn) that updated a version umber in a header02:20
so now I want to do something like...02:20
git log --pretty=oneline \! --grep='Auto-increment'02:20
aeruder_ omg why02:42

dancor joined02:58
dancor how do you specify diff -C 20 with git diff02:58
mugwump dancor: try --context03:02
dancor mugwump: no luck. git 1.5.003:03
usage: git-diff <options> <rev>{0,2} -- <path>*03:03
-U1003:07
does it03:07
-U20 i guess. for my 20 example there.03:07
pretty sneaky, don't see anywhere in manpages03:07
well it's on the diff manpage. but still03:08

davi_ Is is possible to access a git repository with the usual cvs commands?. Has git a cvspserver inteface?10:51
jwb_gone no10:55
davi_ So, there is not a cvspserver interface?10:55
for git?10:55
BitKeeper had one10:56
Gitzilla joined10:56
davi_ I suppose git does not need such CVS interface10:56
Isn't it?10:56
jwb_gone no, there is no cvspserver interface for git10:57
it uses it's own command syntax and protocols10:57
davi_ ok, thanks jwb_gone10:58
chris2 joined10:58
robfitz joined10:58
tomprince There is git-cvsserver.11:07
It allows you to access a remote (or local) repository as if it were a cvs server.11:07
davi_ ahh, so it is true we could to "cvs commit file.c" ?11:07
dkagedal maybe, but you would need a very good reason to want to do that11:11
dduncan left11:31
Tali davi_/jwb_gone: in fact, there is a cvsserver for git.11:35
davi thanks Tali I see it now at the git-cvs package; man git-cvsserver11:46

puzzles moh: last i tried win32 git (last week or so) it was basically unusable12:56
i wouldn't even bother at this point12:56

ACSpike[Work] hello14:42
how's the git on win32 fight progressing?14:42
(fight for git on win32 I should say)14:43
rphillips there were a couple install packages posted onto the mailing list14:49
git is still quite raw though on windows14:50
ACSpike[Work] installers using cygwin or mingw builds?14:50
chris__ [ot] can someone explain or point me toward an explanation of the motivation to remove trailing whitespace from code?14:53
rphillips ACSpike[Work]: cygwin AFAIK14:53
ACSpike[Work]: http://repo.or.cz/w/git/mingw.git14:57
is the mingw port14:57
ACSpike[Work] yeah, I worked with the mingw port for a while a month or two ago14:58
then I got distracted before I had a chance to check out the cygwin port14:58
rphillips I also wish had better windows support14:59
I have a repository of 81000 files. mercurial is not terrible, but git is many times faster15:00
ACSpike[Work] chris__: well trailing whitespace is likely to change during editing. whitespace changes make diffs hard to read. but I've also heard that there is a high likelyhood that there are trailing whitespaces in the same locations where there are bugs. so it might be good to keep it for later analysis. :-)15:00
rphillips: some of the inkscape developers have been trying it out on linux. merging between branches in SVN can be such a pain. but we need to beable to support out win32 based devs too. so, yeah, I'm keeping an eye on it.15:01

orospakr Hey, I turned down my Gnome application font (at least, I think that's why I'm having this problem), but now gitk shows up really tiny as well. Small fonts look great in gnome (thanks to freetype), but in tcl/tk without proper font rendering it's insanely awful.18:54
can I get around this somehow?18:54
matled change the font size in gitk, e.g. ctrl + but I think there is also a menu for that18:58
jrockway perhaps an xresource like "gitk*Font: -foo-*-*-*..."18:59

i'm busy trying to keep up with the gsoc duplicate resolution channel, to make sure git doesn't lose a slot.22:30

spearce a student cannot be accepted to more than one google summer of code project.22:31
jeremyb oh22:31
well, then how is the students pref for project taken into acct?22:31
spearce we were supposed to have worked this out ahead of time with the students.22:32
not everyone did. or they tried to, but the damn webapp is buggy and didn't save it. ;-(22:32
jeremyb ah22:33
welp, /me goes back to reading that thread22:33
spearce: basically aiui the big question as far as moz goes atm is whether performance is acceptable on msys22:33
(and mingw)22:34
spearce from what i've read its probably as close as we'll ever get on windows.22:34
NTFS is a piss-poor filesystem.22:34
though i've read gittus saying we maybe do too many syscalls to the fs during a checkout.22:35
jeremyb how long has it been where it is now for perf/stability on msys/mingw?22:36
spearce i think the mingw is self-hosting, but nobody is using it in production work. it was last benchmarked like 10-15% faster than cygwin.22:36
jeremyb msys is used by some moz devs for building and we might be moving to msys for some tboxen. (no clue really on the tboxen)22:38
