oxymoron93 index is basically the staging area, you could think of it as a commit-to-be, so when you run git commit, whatever is in staging area gets translated to commit object. you use git add to add stuff to it. It's a stage in preparation for new commit object. Have you checked the !book jaziz09:21

Imo. what you are doing isn't really worth doing. If you just sign the newest commit then you have effectively signed all commits leading up to it20:57

energizer: a tag object contains the hash oof the object (usually commit) it points to. So the sha of the tag does take this commit into account.21:54
