dreamcat4 perexg: it is a great thing you are doing with the satip-axe. will we be able to compile our own media tree patches into it? because my august DVB-T210 otherwise require kernel 3.17+ (and that is way back in 2.4). which seems a problem to support easily many modern/recent DVB-* usb tuners.15:40
perexg dreamcat4: probably not, we need to keep the inverto kernel to run their/STM drivers for the integrated USB tuners.. 2.6.32.42_stm24_0208-idl4k_7108, sorry15:45
integrated DVB-S2 tuners.. typo15:45
dreamcat4 perexg: right... closed drivers. but maybe one day they will end up becoming open. (after some time long enough)15:47
until then, i have an odroid-C1 to use instead, fully open source :)15:48
perexg: maybe some other small userland programs can run on it. like EPG scaper (like mc2xml). can run on it. which downloads the EPG listings and outputs a file in .xmltv format15:50

dreamcat4 BobLfoot: you have to realize that many modern features are missing from the 3-years ago 'stable' version of tvh. including bouquest, and many others too18:42
in fact, well over 2000 commits worth' since 3.9 point18:42
ProfYaffle Shudders at the thought of BobLfoot's 2.anything...19:11

but there is no mux-id if you query a service20:15

dreamcat4 BobLfoot: ah right! Thanks for reporting your build number here. Really appreciate that22:03
ant_thomas left22:05
BobLfoot dreamcat4: I ahve 3.9.2662 ready to install but ahven't pulled the yum yet22:08
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: i'm currently trying to figure out how to make an autobuild .deb on launchpad (and trigger it from some webhook / web api or something)22:12
actually 2 layers, one to build the .deb, and then another webhook on dockerhub, to trigger a docker image build22:12
BobLfoot dreamcat4: can't help I gave up ubuntu some time ago , fedora/rhel/centos here22:13
dreamcat4 so your report will be useful (to know the newest stable commit / version to update to)22:13
BobLfoot so 3.9 is stable?22:14
dreamcat4 just haven't got such mechanism in place yet22:14
BobLfoot: well, it seems not to be the officially demarked 'stable' release ordained by project overlords22:14
BobLfoot well git describe returns v3.9-2662-ge4cdd3c on master / HEAD22:15
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: but you are here saying that 3.9.2656 *IS* stable. and it's those kinds of comments that generally dictate if it's informally 'stable'22:15
BobLfoot no dreamcat4 I am not saying I am asking?? note the ?3.9? earlier22:16
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: so basically you are 4 behind which is a nightly build (like the apt nightlies)22:16
6 commits behing (sorry)22:16
BobLfoot: i think someone here said the last known stable release was... (let me go check)22:17
BobLfoot yeah I just isntalled 2662 and it plays existing record ok, checking for record now22:17
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: [Sat Mar 28 14:06:08 2015]< dreamcat4> circ-user-eWU42: nevermind. found it (3.9.2524~gbd06d3c)22:21
BobLfoot: reported here by IRC user circ-user-eWU422:22
BobLfoot: so in other words, '138 commits ago' would put that before the sat>ip server merge. and now perexg has fixed some bugs, it's feeling relatively a lot more stable back again22:23
BobLfoot dreamcat4: how do you use tvh ? OTA DVB ....?22:25
dreamcat4 for example, i have tried after his recent fixings, no more segfault on web GUI login. trace output generally looks ok (nothing majorly bad stands out to take notice of so far)22:26
BobLfoot: i have a sat>ip server, and also some USB dvb-t sticks (but they are not to be directly attached so the tvheadend machine).22:27
BobLfoot I do all mine via RPM so if there is an issue just revert back22:27
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: i am making docker containers for tvheadend and also a debug container (for easy taking of stack trace, core dumps)22:27
BobLfoot ah all mine are OTA/pci tuner cards ; I still miss subtitles, lost them went I switched from mythtv to tvheadend22:28
hyponic joined22:28
BobLfoot but tvheadned connects to frontends on doze machines simplier22:28
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: docker has centos, redhat, fedora etc base images too. but they are a lot bigger (the image file size)22:28
BobLfoot: i get subtitles. unfortunately i have to disable them all because Showtime client has a bug in it (it's global setting always displays the subtitles by default)22:29
BobLfoot still don't know why the subtitles that used to be in the recorded stream from mythtv are no longer in the ts file made by tvheadend. But my knowledge of digital tv nuts and bolts is poor22:29
dreamcat4: what stream do you use?22:30
hyponic_away joined22:30
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: yes but do you see subtitles on live TV (htsp) streams e.g. to kodi PVR plugin (or showtime / movian htsp client)22:30
BobLfoot: default stream (which is .ts)22:31
BobLfoot let me recheck I have kodi on this box i'll see if it has subts22:31
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: some channels i notice there is not all of the icons (buttons), and may be missing a 'subtitle' button. try movian client (showtime media center)22:32
hyponic left22:32
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: so try the main channels you know should have subs broadcast (and the programme too)22:33
BobLfoot dreamcat4: jsut checked CBS where I am watching subtitles on TV and Kodi/hts has no subtitles22:34
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: can you get me the commit id of '3.9.2656' that you are running now? it should be displayed in the 'About' tab far right22:35
BobLfoot dreamcat4: I think you want Build: 3.9.2662-git.e4cdd3c.1.el7.centos22:37
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: thanks22:37
BobLfoot dreamcat4: I suspect this is a config issue somewhere. BTW what do the REWRITE foo options mean?22:38
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: that is not the one you had before...22:39
BobLfoot: i'm not sure your problem with the subs, but to disable them i had to Add a new filter under the 'Subtitles Filters' tabs in Config section22:40
BobLfoot dreamcat4: think it might be I have no filters therefore no subtitles?22:43
Domin left22:44
dreamcat4 BobLfoot: no. if you have no subtitle filters then really there should be nothing stopping tvheadend from sending all the subtitles channel(s) over to kodi in the .ts stream...22:45
BobLfoot: are you using the DEFAULT stream profile ? or did you mess around and be changing that ?22:46
BobLfoot: i've never needed to change it... and my subititles are working. So if yours are not then that is something to check up on.22:46
